Holden Arboretum
Mission Botanica will be featured at the Holden Arboretum from Saturday, June 11 to Sunday, September 5, 2022. Climb, leap, hang, and fly through the green and mysterious world of a unique maze with Mission Botanica. This June, you’re invited to explore the vast biodiversity in a bilingual, family-friendly adventure maze, that will feature highlighted plants and trees from the Arboretum’s collection.

Twilight in the A-Mazing Woods

Save the date for our annual benefit picnic for the plants and trees. Twilight in the A-Mazing Woods will take place Saturday, July 9th from 5:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. Throughout the Arboretum grounds, the benefit will feature a picnic dinner by SPICE Catering, live music, activities for adults and kids including a craft station and botanically themed treasure hunt, and exclusive access to the Arboretum’s summer exhibit, Mission Botanica by Minotaur Mazes. Concert in the Forest Series
Holden Arboretum
Concert in the Forest Series begins Wednesday, June 15th. Enjoy live music, food trucks, and quality time with friends and family out in nature. Food trucks will open at 5:30 p.m. Concert in the Forest Series will feature bands from Northeast Ohio, the Cleveland Institute of Music, and Cleveland’s Baroque Orchestra Apollo’s Fire. Concerts are included with the price of admission with the exception of Apollo’s Fire.

David G. Leach Research Station Open House
David G. Leach Research Station
Come visit HF&G’s David G. Leach Research Station, a private 20-acre rhododendron research facility and woodland garden. Volunteers and staff will be on hand to answer any questions, but otherwise enjoy one of Northeast Ohio’s finest gardens at your own leisure. The garden contains an extensive collection of hybrid and species rhododendrons, as well as towering trees and other choice landscape plants. You can also observe an active rhododendron breeding program focused on developing new and improved garden hybrids.

Invasive Plants and Insects 101

Join us to learn about some common invasive plants and insects in Northeast Ohio. This knowledge will benefit your own yard or neighborhood by providing an understanding of what shouldn’t be there and why. The class will highlight invasive plant and insect identification, what makes them troublesome, their history and some methods for controlling them. Following the class presentation will be a companion hike within the Arboretum’s core to view some of the plants and insects discussed.

Firefly Foray
Holden Arboretum
Maybe you caught them as a kid, but what do you know about fireflies? Did you know there are as many as 2 dozen species in Ohio? Join Carly Martin, Cleveland Metroparks Naturalist, and firefly aficionado to learn more about this fascinating insect. An indoor talk will be followed by a hike to seek out several species found at the arboretum. Will we find the famous synchronizing fireflies? This is best experienced in darkness, so come prepared to walk in the dark with assistance from the leaders.
