This garden abounds with flowers, trees, and shrubs that will offer a soothing respite from the everyday. Large trees like chestnut oak and magnolia provide a soothing sense of enclosure.
Whether you opt to sit with a book or converse with a friend, this calming, life-affirming garden is a place of timeless rewards. And thanks to wider paths and gentle slopes, peace of mind is more easily accessible to all.
Things to discover
Summersweet (Clethra alnifolia)| Watch for them at the Garden during summer months, but make room for the bees who adore its flowers. Summersweet is an OH native that likes wet feet and plenty sunshine, so if you have those, plant them!
Honeysuckle ‘Peaches & Cream’ (Lonicera periclymenum ‘Inov 88’)| We think this great-looking Dutch honeysuckle cultivar has too many names! But please be careful with honeysuckles because they can become invasive weeds. If ol’ Peaches seems pretty tame, well we’ve said that all before weed-wise, haven’t we?
Red oak (Quercus rubra)| Our red oak (Quercus rubra) is resplendent in its crown of metallic green leaves. It is 200 years old and rises on a straight trunk that bears witness to its youth when the Garden was still a forest. Stand underneath it for a moment and let it amaze you.
