Did you know that Ohio is home to more than twenty species of fireflies?

While we are familiar with the variety that light up our lawns, there are so many more to be seen. Join Cleveland Metroparks Naturalist and firefly enthusiast Carly Martin as we take in the wonder of firefly diversity in a search for several different species. We’ll start off indoors with fun facts and identification techniques, then hit the trails and the Canopy Walk to explore different habitats in the increasing darkness. If we’re lucky, we’ll finish off the night by seeing a local population of synchronizing fireflies.

Age: Adult, teens 13 & over with adult
The length of this hike and its educational content are not designed for children.

Terrain: up to 2.0 miles, some paved, some natural surface and grass, slow pace with limited visibility

Time: 8 – 11 p.m.
