Sedum ternatum 'Larinem Park' 

A sedum for shade!  Yup, this Sedum is a beautiful low-growing groundcover for the shady garden, covered with flowers in masses of small white stars in the early spring.  This plant usually grows on flood plains near streams, but it will grow in the garden average soils.  This cultivar was originally found in the shale barrens of New Jersey and it has more flowers and stays more compact than the normal species. The flowers offer a wonderful early food source for those early butterflies and bees and the plant also can be a food source for the caterpillars of the variegated fritillary butterfly.
