Make an Impact

The volunteers at Holden Forests & Gardens are valuable members of our community, and their positive attitudes and impressive knowledge make our programs and services possible.

However, due to COVID-19, we are not accepting new volunteer applications at this time.

Please know we are so grateful for your interest, and check back soon!

The Research Department hosts volunteers year-round. Volunteers help with a wide variety of tasks ranging from setting up experiments in the field, greenhouse, and laboratory, collecting data, processing samples, and archiving data. Research volunteers also staff outreach tables at HF&G events, such as Goblins in the Garden and the Egg Hunt, where we present our research to the general public.

Cleveland Botanical Garden

Volunteers donate not only their amazing skills and talents, but thousands of hours – collectively – to help with school groups, lead tours, assist with outdoor and indoor garden maintenance, monitor and feed critters, help in the library, work in the store, greet visitors, help with crafts and games, special events, and so much more
