All Play Volunteer Days
Come play with us!
All Play Volunteer Days are when we host one-time volunteer activities that are open to anyone, whether you are a current volunteer with us or not. They include special family-friendly events to engage our youngest gardeners, unique Green Teen events designed for volunteers ages 15-19, and full on All Play Days where we can take all comers.
All Play Days give you chance to help the environment, make new friends, try out volunteering for us and – hopefully – have a little fun! Plus, you get the benefit of free parking and free admission before or after volunteering, so you can enjoy our remarkable forests & gardens.
We typically host one All Play Volunteer Day each month at either our Cleveland Botanical Garden or Holden Arboretum campus.

Seed Collector
Saturday, September 28th, 10am-12:30pm
Holden Forests & Gardens is working to combat climate change by fostering resilient forests throughout the region. Join us as we collect native seeds at our Holden Arboretum campus to support reforestation and restoration projects throughout Northeast Ohio! Activities include walking, hiking, bending and kneeling. No prior experience necessary.

Green Teens Holiday Lights
Saturday, November 16, 10am-12:30pm or 1:30-4pm
This special All Play “Green Teens” Day at HF&G is for teen volunteers ages 15-19 ONLY! Join us at our Cleveland Botanical Garden campus and light us up as we string thousands of holiday lights throughout our gardens and building. You can help us make sure our wonderful holiday event, Frost, is as magical and beautiful as it can be.

Big Leaf Raking
Wednesday, November 20, 9-11:30am or 12:30-3pm
October is a busy month at HF&G, with thousands of bulbs to plant, gardens to cut back – and leaves to rake! We need YOUR help at our Big Leaf Raking Day to do one final push to prepare and beautify our grounds before opening our holiday event. This activity is open to volunteers ages 14+; no experience necessary and all tools and instructions are provided. As an added bonus, participants can get a “sneak peak” of our amazing Frost exhibit after their shift!
