Explore invasive plants’ impact on biodiversity through interactive simulations before conducting field surveys in the gardens’ collection.
Biodiversity in Your Backyard is a school program designed for 9th-12th graders which explores topics such as species richness, biodiversity, and invasive species. During the learning experience, participants will be guided through an interactive simulation to enhance their understanding of invasive plants’ impact on our local ecosystem. Afterwards, they will employ the skills and knowledge commonly used by Holden Forests & Gardens’ natural area biologists, arborists, ecologists, and horticulturalists to bolster Cleveland’s biodiversity. Afterwards, on- site learners can explore the gardens to apply newly acquired knowledge.
