Research Interests

As the research specialist in Juliana Medeiros’ Lab, I contribute to research focused on how phenotypic and genetic variation in plant species interact with environmental factors to drive ecological patterns and the evolution of plant diversity. Broadly, I am interested in understanding how plants will adapt to the growing challenges posed by urbanization and climate change and acclimate to new environments. With a background in environmental chemistry, I have investigated the impact of environmental contaminants, such as industrial pollution and chemical weapons, on soil, water, and the atmosphere. In my previous roles at Holden, I have supported research on plant-microbiome interactions and forest phenology. I believe that interdisciplinary approaches are essential to understanding the complex interactions between evolutionary processes and anthropogenic inputs. Through science outreach, I aim to engage local communities with this important work and ensure that scientific discoveries not only advance knowledge but also inform real-world conservation efforts and public awareness.
