Celebrating Forest Stewardship at the 4th Annual Working Woods Field Day
June 11, 2025

On Saturday, June 7th, nearly a hundred forest lovers from across our region – from Franklin County, OH to Erie County, PA – gathered for the fourth annual Working Woods Field Day. As in years past, the Field Day is a free event that invites woodland owners, natural resource professionals, and anyone else curious about forestry to come tour Holden Arboretum’s 67-acre Learning Forest, connect with peers, and pick up forest management resources.

The day began with a walking tour of Working Woods, where attendees could see many types of forest management in action – including strategies like sustainable timber harvesting, invasive plant removal, wildlife habitat creation, canopy thinning, forest farming, and more. Afterwards, attendees had the option to speak to representatives from ODNR, local land conservancies and forestry businesses, Northeast Ohio park districts and others.

It was a beautiful day to be in the woods, and it was so encouraging to see so many members of the community coming together over a shared love of forests. We in the Working Woods Hub are beyond grateful to all the HF&G staff and partners who made this day possible – and to everyone who attended. We hope to see you next year!
