Valerie McCauley

Seed Bank and Administrative Specialist

Education

  • Bachelor of Arts | 2024 | Miami University, Botany and Environmental Science

My work at Holden Forests & Gardens originally began as a conservation intern in 2023, helping to develop my interest in conservation and restoration practices that align with my passion for native plants. Upon completing my degree, I was fortunate enough to return to Holden as the Seed Bank and Administrative Specialist, where I focus on collecting, processing, and storing native seeds to support restoration projects and preserve the genetic diversity of local plant populations. My interests center around native plant conservation and ecological restoration. I’m passionate about using science-based approaches to support habitat restoration, enhance biodiversity, and promote the long-term health of native ecosystems. Whether working in the field, collaborating with partners, or sharing knowledge with others, I’m motivated by the opportunity to help native plants thrive and contribute to the restoration of our natural landscapes.
