The Holden Arboretum

The Holden Arboretum encompasses an expansive 3,500 acres including lush woodlands and 200 acres dedicated to thoughtfully cultivated gardens.

Cleveland Botanical Garden

Over 10 acres of beautiful outdoor gardens, featuring rare and exotic collections, plus specially curated specimens planted in themed glasshouses.

A Garden Holiday

Open now through Sunday, January 2nd
It’s the most wonderful time of the year at the Cleveland Botanical Garden. A Garden Holiday will delight the senses and transport visitors into a holiday wonderland filled with the colorful plants and towering trees that bring the most festive time of year to life beginning on Saturday, November 20 through Sunday, January 2, 2022.

Additional Garden Holiday events include Krampusnacht and Breakfast with Santa.

Sunday, December 12, and Sunday, December 19 from 10 a.m. -12 p.m.

The cost for members is $28 for adults, $22.50 for children three and up, and for non-members: $40 for adults, $25 for children three and up.

Winter is Wonderful

Winter in Northeast Ohio is underrated. Approximately 10 days a month are sunny and when it snows it is truly beautiful. All throughout the winter season, Holden Forests & Gardens encourages you to bundle up and join us at the outdoor gardens and woodland trails at the Holden Arboretum. People for Trees

Our movement to plant and care for 15,000 trees by 2025 in NEO is off to an incredible start! Holden Forests & Gardens has planted more than 1,400 trees with the help of our community partners. Tree of the Month: Eastern White Pine

Pinus strobus is The Holden Arboretum’s most majestic evergreen. The white pines on Little Mountain can be seen three miles away from Holden’s Conifer Collection at the intersection of Kirtland-Chardon and Sperry roads. This remarkable species is native from southeastern Manitoba and northeastern Iowa to the Great Lake States, including scattered populations in Ohio; east to Newfoundland, south to Georgia in the mountains.

Beech Leaf Disease and Forest Fungi: Healthy trees support healthy fungal communities

Arboreta play an active role in studying a wide range of tree diseases and the pathogens and parasites that cause them. Recently, our focus at Holden has been on Beech Leaf Disease (BLD), which is an emerging forest disease affecting beech trees in the midwestern and northeastern United States, and southern Canada.
