Research Interests
I have a background in forensic science and criminal justice, where my interest in research began with looking at demographic factors in body location in Wayne County, Michigan with the lead anthropologist. During this time, I also had the opportunity to volunteer in Holden Arboretum’s Long Science Center laboratory. I have always had a love for plants and the environment and being outdoors. I am also interested in plant genetics and microbes. My current research in the Burke Lab uses my laboratory knowledge and skills to analyze how microbial communities can contribute to disease resistance or susceptibility in beech trees. Although a niche area of study, forensic botany is my ultimate goal to combine my two passions.
