Using a field guide to identify a specimen is an important tool for any naturalist.
Celebrate Women’s History Month by learning how female naturalists of the early 20th century helped develop and popularize the use of field guides for an increasingly “outdoorsy” public. Interspersed with local stories and books from the Eleanor Squire Memorial Library collections, this program examines women’s pioneering achievements in promoting outdoor education and conservation at a time when these ideas were blossoming in the United States.
