Learn to turn scraps into soil while keeping your space limitations in mind.
The first in a seasonal composting series, this workshop will focus on compost systems for a variety of housing situations: from renters with no yard space, to small suburban yards, to homeowners with several acre woodlots. We will start with basics of compost (chemistry, tools, and types) and end with a hands-on compost pile demonstration. We will also visit the in-progress, industrial-scale compost site at the Arboretum’s horticultural yard, being constructed with funds from the Ohio EPA’s Recycling Grant.
Terrain: up to 1 mile, uneven terrain, wooded natural surface, possible mud
