Pine, spruce, hemlock, cedar…

Conifers grace churches, cemeteries, and the jolliest holidays in the darkest time of the year. The lore and healing folk stories reveal the reverence many cultural traditions hold for these evergreen giants. Herbalist Leah Wolfe from the Trillium Center will share the stories of their cultural uses and healing qualities, including how herbalists use evergreen trees today. Try some tea and watch Leah demonstrate how to make an herbal salt with samples to take home. A display of needles and cones from Holden Arboretum’s collections will help you learn how to identify these beautiful trees.
