Planting a tree is a gift to future generations, but where do you start?
This class will cover the basics: what to consider before planting a tree, how to select the perfect tree, when to plant trees in our region, and how to care for newly-planted trees. Following a brief indoor presentation, we’ll walk to the Helen S. Layer Rhododendron Garden for some hands-on experience planting a dawn redwood on Holden Arboretum grounds.
Terrain: up to 1.5 miles, mostly paved, some grass, some hills
Age: Adult, children 12 & over with adult
All minors must be accompanied by an adult.
Time: 1 – 3 p.m.
