From pollination to decomposition, insects and spiders are vital to the health of both human and natural systems.

In this program, you’ll learn about the importance of insects and spiders and explore ways to protect and preserve bugs in your own backyard through sustainable land stewardship. Our conversation will be centered around six simple conservation practices that you can get started with right away. We’ll move beyond just planting native to include other important stewardship activities including reducing light pollution and practicing integrated pest management.

Danae Wolfe

Founder, Chasing Bugs

Danae Wolfe is a macro photographer, conservation educator, and founder of Chasing Bugs. Wolfe began photographing nature as a young girl, but it wasn’t until she took her first environmental studies course as a junior in college when she really fell in love with the natural world and environmental education. Inspired by the work of scientists like Doug Tallamy, Wolfe’s photography and teaching strives to promote sustainable home landscape practices that support insects and spiders while fostering appreciation of the beauty and diversity of bugs around the world.
