Learn more about how your gift advances our mission:

Research

Our staff conducts applied botanical research that helps preserve our plant collections, conserve natural resources, and develop best practices in urban greening. These projects span many areas of interest, and help address environmental, economic, and human health concerns.

People for Trees

Holden Forests & Gardens is entering year three of our People for Tree campaign. Already, more than 10,000 trees have been pledged and planted by residents of Northeast Ohio. Our goal is to have 15,000 trees planted and cared for together throughout Northeast Ohio by 2025. Your gift supports People for Trees programming and community tree plantings.

Teacher Training and Student Field Trips

Our professional development program for local pre-school and elementary teachers strengthens the knowledge, teaching skills and confidence of participants through lessons aligned with Ohio Academic Content Standards in life science.

We also offer teacher resource kits with curricula, pictures, books, activities, and materials designed to deepen classroom learning.

School Transportation Fund

This fund helps to bus young students from low-income schools to our campuses. Each year, more than 1,000 kids are able to visit because of this program, with the number of requests steadily increasing since its inception in 2005.

Green Corps

Our Green Corps work-study program helps revitalize Cleveland neighborhoods by creating new urban green spaces and providing learning opportunities for local teens. These students develop important life skills through urban agriculture and business.
